bearing PSK data into two quadrature base band signals.

D.S.S.T.TV Demodulator. The Digital Stereo Sound with
Terrestrial Television (DSSTTV) Demodulator accepts a
quadrature-phase-shift-keyed (QPSK) modulated carrier at an
IF of 6. 553MHz, and demodulates the signal to recover a
serial binary data-stream and associated clock signal at
728kbit/sec. The unit demodulates the input signal to
recover I & Q phase-axes data at symbol-rate (twice bit-
rate). The I & Q data are passed on to clock-recovery and
decoder circuits, which reform the serial bit-stream at
728kbit/sec, and recover the clock signal for optimum data
sampling. These clock data-signals are available as TTL
outputs, ready for the 728kbit/sec Decoder (CD3SM/54).

QPSK Demodulator. This unit forms part of the Digital
Stereo Sound with Terrestrial Television Demodulator. The
demodulator recovers data signals from the two orthogonal
I & Q phase-axes of the quadrature-phase-shift-keyed
digital sound signal. A reference carrier signal used for
demodulation is recovered from the filtered 6.552MHz IF
input signal, using the technique of baseband remodulation
with Costas loops. The demodulated I & Q data waveforms
are available for processing by other units within the
demodulator. Power requirements +12V (240mA), -12V
